Brief Profile

Dr. Okezie Onyedinachi is a native of Amamba Uzuakoli, in Bende Local Government of Abia State Nigeria. He is happily married to Mrs. Bibian Okezie-Onyedinachi and they are blessed with five children (4Boys and 1Girl). He was born in Owerri in Imo state in the middle sixties to late Mr. & Mrs. Sunday Onyedinachi. The 5th in the family of eight children (7boys and 1girl), with 6 alive. His desire to be a Medical Doctor was borne out of the fact to serve humanity, having observed his father survived 2 “Stroke incidents “ due to Hypertension and was determined to contribute his quota in reducing the harmful effect of Hypertension to Humanity. He proceeded to Methodist College Uzuakoli for his secondary school education and ended up as the only student in his class who succeeded in studying medicine due to his passion. He graduated from the renowned University of Nigeria Nsukka as Medical Doctor in 1991.He proceeded to Lagos after his Youth service to work in a private Hospital in Olodi Apapa area of Lagos state; where he touched life of many clients and rose to the rank of CEO/MD of St James Hospital (Clinic &Maternity) and assistant Secretary of association of AGPMPN/NMA in Olodi-Apapa, Lagos state. He later proceeded to South Africa for his post graduate studies in Family medicine in 2004 and was attracted to further his career in Public health, considering the huge devastation of HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Southern African region. This culminated in his great passion for him to play a critical role in the fight against HIV/AIDS Pandemic and reducing its impact on Humanity. He acquired a Master of Philosophy degree in HIV/AIDS Management from Stellenbosch University Cape town South Africa, Master of Business Administration (Management) from University of St. Mark and St. John, Plymouth UK, Post Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine from University Of Pretoria and also Post graduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Health from WITS University with an excellent result in Tropical Public Health. A CDC trained Grant Management Specialist with certificate in interpersonal communication from Lagos Business School. Having achieved great success working with Government of Lesotho in Southern Africa and as a consultant with ICAP Lesotho in implementation of Public Health programs to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS; he decided to return home to contribute his technical expertise in development of programs that will help mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS Epidemic in Nigeria. Since Coming back to Nigeria, Dr Okezie has continued to manage numerous high-impact Public service projects in areas of health, Education and social investment, includingThe multi-million-dollar USAID ACE 5 grant and the ECEWS US CDC-funded SPEED project, collectively support over 300,000 patients on HIV care and treatment. He is the current Head of Clinical Services of the Global Fund project on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, and Treatment supporting Care and Treatment for over 15,000 patients He also serves as the Head of Clinical Services on the Momentum Country & Global Leadership project among several other projects running concurrently across several states in NigeriaNotably, His love for the health of mother and child spurred him to spend much of his time acquiring great expertise in PMTCT program and has contributed immensely to the success of PMTCT program both locally and internationally. His Huge contribution to PMTCT /HIV Treatment program in Nigeria has won him great accolades as the face of CIHP in 2013 and Excellence award from ECEWS, the leading implementers of HIV/AIDS program in Nigeria. Member: Inter Agency Task Team (IATT) on the Prevention and Treatment of HIV infection in Pregnant women, Mothers and Children; International AIDS Society (IAS), Association of Private and General Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, Guild of Medical Directors, Association of Nigerian Public Health Physicians, Association of Nigeria Implementation Science Alliance, National Technical Working group on HIV/AIDS and TB, Christian Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (CMDA) and National Task Team on HIV/AIDS program.
