Brief Profile

Mr. Daniel Kofi Kyere had his education from the Kwame Nkrumah Uni versity of Science and Technology in Ghana and further education from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. He has had more than 53 years of working experience in the civil service, Public service, academia and private con­sultancy in the areas of construction economics, project management and con­struction related dispute adjudication. He is a fellow of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors since 1988. He has held various responsible positions as a Regional Quantity Surveyor of the Public Work Department, Foundation Head of Quanti­ty Surveying Department of Public Development Corporation in charge of the development of entire Industrial and Habour City in Ghana. Senior University Lecturer and head of department in a prestigious Public University in Nigeria. The first Development Manager of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority responsi­ble for the development, maintenance and estates of the national airports and. Also, as the chief executive of a state housing development company (Redco) before going into private consultancy practice in Ghana. He was the first candi­date to qualify professionally locally in Quantity Surveying practice in Ghana and subsequently became the president of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors in 2012. As president of the institution he led a delegation to the headquarters of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveying (RICS) in London where he succeeded in getting recognition for the local members of the Ghana Institution of Survey­ors to be admitted as full members of the (RICS), an international professional body for the branches of surveying, after five years of practice in Ghana without writing any examination, feat that has been achieved by no other country in Africa aside South Africa. He was appointed by the National University Commission, of Nigeria (NUC) to advise on standards for university based programmes in Quantity Surveying in Nigeria Universities and received a meritorious award for the training of quantity surveyors in Nigeria’s higher institutions. In Ghana, he participated in the drawing up of academic programmes at the Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor ofTechnology (B.Tech), Master ©(Technology (MTech), Master of Sci­ence (MSc) in several Technical and Traditional Universities in Ghana, was also engaged in the accreditation exercise for Build environment programmes at the HND, BSc, B.Tech, MSc, M.Tech, M.Phil. and PhD levels. Mr. Kyere has been an external examiner for HND, B.Tech, BSc, MSc programmes in some public, traditional and techni­cal universities for several years.The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology recognized him as their outstanding alumnus in the built environment in the country to address the 2012 congregation at the graduation cere­mony for post graduate graduands. He was also specially invited to attend special Built Environment graduation cere­mony at the Liverpool John More University, Liverpool, United Kingdom in 2012. My Kyere participated in the Research into Site Management (RSM) project, which uniquely combines the design and construction process in a client organization at the Nottinghamshire County Council Architect’s Department in Not­tingham, United Kingdom. In private practice as the principal of his own firm, Kyere Consult, he has handled several prestigious projects in the health, education, offices complex, airport structures and real estates and has mentored sev­eral young graduates in the construction industry in Ghana. He has successfully handled several construction related dispute resolution cases, up to the ICC level in London. He has been acknowledged in a book written and published on the “Achievements and Honours of Brilliant Achievers” from his home region Ahafo and Bono region of Ghana
